Park Crime Hits "Home" As Man, 85, Is Attacked In Mayor's UES Park

The suspect approached the 85-year-old man from behind and punched him in the side of the head, sending him toppling to the ground 

A coward approaches a 85-year-old man from behind and punches him in the side of the head in broad daylight. The attack sent the senior to the hospital.  The attack occured on Tuesday at 3 p.m. inside the park along  theJohn Finley Walk promenade near East 90th Street and East End Avenue, yards away from Gracie Mansion.

The Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the coward depicted in the attached video and photograph in connection to a robbery that occurred within the confines of the 19 Precinct.

On October 25, 2016, at approximately 3:00pm  inside of Carl Schulz Park (East End Avenue and East 90 Street) the individual approached the 85 year-old male victim from behind and punched him in the side of the head. 

The victim fell to the ground and suffered lacerations to the back of his head and above his right eye. He was removed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition. The individual fled southbound on the promenade. 

The individual is described as a male black, in his 40s, with a black backpack; last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and a red knit cap.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

The man then fled the park, running down the promenade. Police have appealed for help in identifying him
