One Stabbed, Another Struck With Baseball Bat In Bronx Park Gang Attack

Two teens were injured after a large fight between "Trinitarios" gang members broke out, leaving one man, 17, with a stab would to the chest which resulted in a collapsed lung. 

A 15-year old was also injured when he was struck in the back of the head with a baseball bat.

During the malee a gunman fired two shots,  no one was reported hit.

The incident occurred yesterday at 4:21 p.m. inside Devoe Park near University Avenue and Father Zeiser Place. 

Police recovered two spent shell casings as well as a live round at the scene.

The victims were removed to St. Barnabas Hospital stable condition.

A 19 year old man was arrested for the stabbing. (name pending)  

Frailyn Rodriguez, 19,  from Segwick Avenue was arrested at 12:15am this morning for the bat attack on the 15 year-old.


Authorities are still working to determine what sparked the brawl.

Devoe Park has been the location for several violent incidents over the years.


In December 2015, a 21-year-old hispanic male was discovered dead on the sidewalk outside of Devoe Park with a gunshot wound to his back in an apparant drug related incident. 


In 2011 three people were shot inside the park, two fatality. Police arrested a 16-year-old.

In 2014 Yenfri Ramirez, age 19, was sentenced to consecutive terms of 23 years to life.
